I could dress up, hop in the car and do what? Roam the city? I can&#8217;t be\u00a0 bothered. I think such things should be done in pairs (in company).<br \/>\nSo I think I will re-visit a path I have thread before since I am feeling blue.<br \/>\nI love all genres of music, and songs from all ages. But\u00a0the oldies have a certain special place in my heart.\u00a0And even narrowing that down further would be the\u00a0category of songs that are called by various\u00a0names including &#8220;tragic love songs&#8221; and &#8220;teenage tragedy songs&#8221;.\u00a0I am including the lyrics of\u00a0one of my all-time\u00a0favorites below &#8211; &#8220;Tell Laura I love her&#8221;. I believe I heard this song first on some lonely day back when I was in the boarding house during my secondary school days.<br \/>\nTo counter the &#8220;blues&#8221; effect, I am also including the lyrics of a song &#8220;Jambalaya&#8221; I first heard\/learnt at a YMCA camp a very long time ago when I was little (Nigeria was different then). Jambalaya is one of those folksongs you sing in company at any time &#8211; the more the merrier!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell Laura I lover her<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Laura and Tommy were lovers<br \/>\n\u00a0He wanted to give her everything<br \/>\n\u00a0Flowers, presents, but most of all, a wedding ring<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHe saw a sign for a stock car race<br \/>\n\u00a0A thousand dollar prize it read<br \/>\n\u00a0He couldn&#8217;t get Laura on the phone<br \/>\n\u00a0So to her mother, Tommy said<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTell Laura I love her<br \/>\n\u00a0Tell Laura I need her<br \/>\n\u00a0Tell Laura I may be late<br \/>\n\u00a0I&#8217;ve something to do, that cannot wait<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0He drove his car to the racing grounds<br \/>\n\u00a0He was the youngest driver there<br \/>\n\u00a0The crowed roared as they started the race<br \/>\n\u00a0Around the track they drove at a deadly pace<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nNo one knows what happened that day<br \/>\n\u00a0Or how his car overturned in flames<br \/>\n\u00a0But as they pulled him from the twisted wreck<br \/>\n\u00a0With his dying breath, they heard him say<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTell Laura I love her<br \/>\n\u00a0Tell Laura I need her<br \/>\n\u00a0Tell Laura not to cry<br \/>\n\u00a0My love for her will never die<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nNow in the chapel where Laura prays<br \/>\nFor her poor Tommy, who passed away<br \/>\n\u00a0It was just for Laura he lived and died<br \/>\n\u00a0Alone in the chapel she can hear him cry\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jambalaya<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Goodbye Joe, me gotta go, me oh my oh<br \/>\nMe gotta go, ole the pirogue, down the bayou<br \/>\nOh my John, the sweetest one, me oh my oh<br \/>\nSon of a gun, we&#8217;ll have big fun, on the bayou<\/p>\n<p>Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and filet gumbo<br \/>\n&#8217;cause tonight, I&#8217;m gonna meet, ma cher amio<br \/>\nPick guitar, fill fruit jar, and be gay-o<br \/>\nSun of a gun, we&#8217;ll have big fun, on the bayou<\/p>\n<p>Thibodaux, Fontaineaux, the place is buzzin&#8217;<br \/>\nKinfolk come, to see my john, by the dozen<br \/>\nDress in style, go hog wild, me oh my oh<br \/>\nSun of a gun, we&#8217;ll have big fun, on the bayou<\/p>\n<p>Jambalaya, and a crawfish pie, and filet gumbo<br \/>\n&#8217;cause tonight, I&#8217;m gonna meet, ma cher amio<br \/>\nPick guitar, fill fruit jar, and be gay-o<br \/>\nSun of a gun, we&#8217;ll have big fun, on the bayou<\/p>\n<p>Settle down, far from town, get me a pirogue<br \/>\nAnd I&#8217;ll catch, all my fish, in the bayou<br \/>\nSwap my mon, to buy my John, what he need-o<br \/>\nSon of a gun, we&#8217;ll have big fun, on the bayou<\/p>\n<p>Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and filet gumbo<br \/>\n&#8217;cause tonight, I&#8217;m gonna meet, ma cher amio<br \/>\nPick guitar, fill fruit jar, and be gay-o<br \/>\nSun of a gun, we&#8217;ll have big fun, on the bayou<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s Saturday evening and I am home alone (well not literally, there are a few other people in the house but I am alone\u00a0for all intents and purposes).
